Acoustic Driving - Live & Unplugged

The mission of KEEP KIDS ALIVE DRIVE 25® is to
make streets safer for all who walk, cycle, play, drive, and ride.
Doing so preserves lives and relationships.

Could "Acoustic Driving" be the new rage? (Not Road Rage!)

What is "Acoustic Driving?"

It is a revolutionary concept called "driving unplugged" - no cellular or other electronic devices activated that cause/add to distractions. It's about focusing on the one complex task at hand - driving!

What happens to acoustic drivers?

They...

...notice the presence of kids at play or pedestrians on the sidewalk and make sure the coast is completely clear before backing out of a driveway or parking space

...notice that there are seat belts in their vehicle and buckle up every trip, no matter the distance

... notice speed limit signs in neighborhoods and beyond and adhere to posted speed limits, or go even slower due to the presence of children at play, pedestrians, or cyclists.

...notice children at play, and slow down accordingly

...notice pedestrians, and slow down or stop accordingly

...notice cyclists, and slow down accordingly (and cyclists can join in by following all rules of the road as well)

...notice stop signs, and Stop! Take 3 To See

...notice and observe traffic signals and do not run red lights or make turns without stopping to make sure that crosswalks are cleared as well as that no motor vehicles or cyclists with the right-of-way are approaching

...notice other motor vehicles sharing the roads and adjusting speed to create appropriate spacing to prevent crashes

...use their peripheral vision to notice everything going on around them on every roadway (use of cellular devices shuts down peripheral vision)

Please e-mail your observations of what you notice while practicing acoustic driving to kkad25@kkad25.org
